The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) entered into force
Completed the diplomatic procedure between EU and Japan, the EPA has finally become a reality – further invigorating the economies of the two and strengthening their relationship. As of 1 February 2019, it entered into force.
The EPA promotes liberalization of trade in goods (both agricultural & industrial products) and in services (from temporary movement of company personnel to financial services).
The EPA especially facilitates investments opportunities across the largest open trade zone in the world, while creating the right framework for small and medium-sized enterprises in many fields.
Please note that as of the same date, a large part of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between EU and Japan also applies (on a provisional basis). An essential structure for intensifying sectoral cooperation.
